Reaching $125,100 out of a required $115,000, Ryan Koo (of NoFilmSchool.com) has successfully funded his debut feature film, Man-Child, of which I am one of the 2,336 backers. I feel proud and oddly annoyed. Proud because it is every filmmaker’s dream come true, and he rightfully deserves every cent, but annoyed because I couldn’t even raise a relatively measly £2,000 for my film, Payne & Redemption, which has been around for 5 years now, and has an EIGHTY-FOUR-MILLION STRONG fan-base! It just goes to show you, that it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been on the scene, or even how many followers or “fans” you have, but proving to your audience that your project is worth their hard earned cash and time – Something that Koo managed with ease.

Anyone who owns a Canon 5D Mark II and uses it for cinematography will probably know about this already, but for those who don’t, Mosaic Engineering have recently released a new Anti-Aliasing / Moiré filter for the Canon 5D Mark II to help combat the image atrocities that have plagued it (and most other DSLRs) since its inception.

Ryan Koo runs a popular website / blog called NoFilmSchool, which covers all sorts of cinematography / photography related news that many of us find extremely informative.
He’s now hoping to fund his debut feature film, called “Man-Child”. Synopsis below…
An amateur video of 13 year-old Terran “TJ” Jackson playing basketball hits the internet and turns his life upside down. TJ is soon nationally ranked among other 7th graders and declared to be “the next Dwayne Wade” despite being in middle school.
As a result of this exposure, free athletic gear and various hangers-on find their way to the doorstep of his small, predominantly-black Christian school. While TJ navigates the religious curriculum — and simultaneously a sexually active relationship with his girlfriend — he learns about the youth basketball world and the recruiting machine that powers it. With his newfound fame, he must choose between educational institutes, father figures, and belief systems.
A few years from now TJ could be a millionaire, but right now all he has is basketball. It’s a lot for anyone to handle — much less a 13 year-old.
As a supporter of independent endeavours, and someone who knows first hand how hard it is to fund and produce a professional film, I am backing Man-Child in a bid to help Ryan reach his goal and well deserved success.
Will Ryan fund “Man-Child” in the 35 hours left of his Kickstarter Fundraising Campaign? I hope so, but it’s up to YOU.
Are you going to help him out and be part of cinematic history? You definitely should!

With Canon making an “historic global” announcement on November 3rd, Jim Jannard, brainchild behind RED Digital Cinema, has entered the battlefield with his armoured corps, and announced today that he TOO will be making an announcement, on the very same day, at 18:00 (Pacific Time, I’m guessing?), regarding the one camera that everyone has been wanting to get their grubby little mits on for some time… The RED Scarlet.
At the end of last week, Canon released a teaser poster, announcing the following cryptic message…
