With Canon making an “historic global” announcement on November 3rd, Jim Jannard, brainchild behind RED Digital Cinema, has entered the battlefield with his armoured corps, and announced today that he TOO will be making an announcement, on the very same day, at 18:00 (Pacific Time, I’m guessing?), regarding the one camera that everyone has been wanting to get their grubby little mits on for some time… The RED Scarlet.
At the end of last week, Canon released a teaser poster, announcing the following cryptic message…
Hi all!
So… This is a photo of a Boeing B-17 that calls Duxford IWM its home. It was taken using the standard 5-shot HDR technique and then heavily graded in Lightroom after being put through Photomatix. I was as far back as I could get from the aircraft and thats all I could get in! A 24mm lens really isn’t wide enough.

In other news: I have bought another film SLR, a very nice Canon EOS-5 with portrait grip…
I need help!
Until next time.
And addicted I am…
Yes folks… It’s true, I’m junkie.
I have been known to prowl the streets, peering helplessly through windows for my next fix.
But my craving is not for any sweet elixir or powder that is measured by the gram.
So, you ask.. What is my vile dependence?
Quite simply it is purchasing old and insanely cheap cameras from charity shops.
Ive always loved the SR-71.
It really doesn’t look like an aircraft, more like some crazy sci-fi space ship… and then you find out that it first flew in the early 60s!
Anyway, I was at the Duxford IWM recently and decided to take an HDR of the SR71 they have sitting inside their American Aviation hanger.
Enjoy!
