After seeing the fantastic test footage shot by David Fincher on the RED One with the new Mysterium-X sensor, Ben and I wanted to see how well the 5D Mark II would perform under similar conditions.
This is a screen cap from the test we conducted with the 5D Mark II…
I shot the footage at 800 ISO, which, to my surprise, could have actually been a lot lower, as the image was rather blown out and had to be darkened quite a bit in post. The lens used was a Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Lens, and I was shooting at a shutter speed of 1/50th. The anamorphic flare was added in post, and the only illumination is from that of the match.
I’m not going to upload the footage we shot from this test, but we will have something pretty cool to show you guys soon, using Kessler Crane’s new CineSlider, so stay tuned!
